About Us

The Romanian Bioinformatics Cluster (Clusterul Român de Bioinformatică, CRB) is a not-for-profit legal entity with a federated structure, established in 2022 by several Romanian universities, research and medical organisations, the Romanian Society of Medical Genetics (SRGM) and the Romanian Bioinformatics Society (RSBI).

CRB is dedicated to advancing Romanian bioinformatics by creating mechanisms to enhance data value, improving access to bioinformatics tools, training, and computing resources, and establishing a framework to support Romanian research groups.

We leverage European interoperability to benefit Romanian scientists and the wider European community. CRB, currently an ELIXIR Observer, collaborates with ELIXIR to achieve this.

CRB addresses the needs of ongoing and future projects in Romanian life sciences by providing a backbone for the sustainability and FAIRification of data, tools and training results.

*Romania became an Observer at the European Life Sciences Infrastructure for Biological Information (ELIXIR), following the approval of the ELIXIR Council on October 30, 2023.
